Guide for unlocking/enabling LTE bands on a rooted LG V10 H961N/H962 Dual SIM:
1. Install the LG USB Drivers (they come with the LG PC Software).
2. Install the free trial of the CDMAtool 's DFS software into your PC from here.
3. Install SU Shell app into your rooted device from here.
4. Connect your LG V10 to your PC
5. In the SU Shell app, which you installed in step 3, execute the following:
Quote:
su
echo 1 > /sys/devices/platform/lg_diag_cmd/diag_enable
6. Unplug and re-plug your USB cable. Your phone is now in diag mode (although you wouldn't know any better, because you don't get any special device names in Device Manager).
7. Launch the DFS software, which you installed in step 2, in Administrator mode. (Close any superfluous windows and get into the actual software.)
8. Double click your device to put a checkmark by it in the DFS software.
9. Click the LTE tab found next to the CDMA/GSM/HSDPA tab in the Bands section of the DFS software, click Read, check the LTE bands you wish to unlock/enable, click Write – repeat this step (step 9) for both LTE BC Config LTE #6828 and LTE BC Config DIV LTE #6829! If the check-boxes in the LTE BC Config DIV LTE #6829 screen are all greyed out and checked, you need to manually match the settings of LTE BC Config LTE #6828 by unchecking all of the LTE BC Config DIV LTE #6829 check-boxes that you left unchecked in the LTE BC Config LTE #6828 screen, so both the LTE BC Config LTE #6828 and the LTE BC Config DIV LTE #6829 screens end up looking exactly the same, because otherwise you run the risk of encountering strange behavior (connectivity dropouts, phone freeze-outs, etc.), especially when both SIMs are being used. During this step (step 9), you will do a total of 2 reads and 2 writes.
10. Click the CDMA/GSM/HSDPA tab found next to the LTE tab in the Bands section of the DFS software, click Read, check the CDMA/GSM/HSDPA bands you wish to unlock/enable (these have nothing to do with the LTE bands that this guide's main purpose is about) or don't check anything if you don't wish to unlock/enable any additional CDMA/GSM/HSDPA bands, click Write – repeat this step (step 10) for both Band Preferred and RF BC Config! This step (step 10) is necessary to perform even if you do not wish to unlock/enable any additional CDMA/GSM/HSDPA bands, because otherwise you run the risk of losing 3G connectivity on your phone! During this step (step 10), you will do a total of 2 reads and 2 writes.
11. Restart your phone!
12. Go into the hidden menu and test the new bands. If they work, you will see SUCCESS when you press them in the Field Test menu (277634#*# [or if that does nothing, press *#546368#*961# or *#546368#*962# instead], Field Test, Modem Settings, Network Mode/LTE Band Selection).
13. Test the newly unlocked/enabled LTE bands' connectivity with your carrier in a real world scenario!
14. Report back to us whether it works or not (preferably with screenshots)!
15. Make a happy dance!
16. Profit!
Thank you!
Formerly (stock rom) unsupported LTE bands that have been confirmed and documented to WORK in a real world deployment on the LG V10 Dual SIM H961N:
LTE Band 2 (1900 MHz)
LTE Band 4 (AWS: 1700/2100 MHz)
LTE Band 17 (700 MHz)
LTE Band 20 (800 MHz)
Note 1: LTE Band 20 (800 MHz) has been reported (though not documented) to work in a real world deployment on the LG V10 Dual SIM H962!
Note 2: Many other LTE bands have been successfully Field Tested on both the LG V10 Dual SIM H961N and the LG V10 Dual SIM H962, but none have been confirmed and/or documented to work in a real world deployment on either of the devices!
